The Herd Men of Kenya are a community of devoted followers of Christ.
THE HERD MEN - KENYA
Why We Are The Herd?
Just like buffaloes, who use their numbers to form a united community, The Herd Men - Kenya adopted the same concept. The herd is a community where men can draw together in an environment with other men where they can open up to each other, can talk and share about their lives; the good things that are going on, and the struggles that they’re having. Weaker animals in the herd move to the middle while the healthy and stronger ones move to the outside to form a protective barrier. A place where they can come and open up their hearts to other men and live together under the kingship of our Savior and King, Jesus Christ.
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to do good works. Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

Mr. John and Mr. Algias when they first met in 2016
Our Story
In July 2016, John Heemer, A U.S. citizen, and Algias Kasembeli met while working together with a U.S.-based missions organization. Both men shared their desire to see men come into the fullness of their manhood by following God. From that desire placed in their hearts by God, John and Algias heard the call of God in their hearts to reach, and they patiently prayed and waited on God for direction. The ministry began in a small house as nearly 30 men gathered and worked through a 40-day devotional called “Act Like Men.” Since 2016, 6 additional groups have been starting in other Kenyan cities. Men are coming together to support each other in their walk to know God and to become fully devoted followers of Jesus.
The Herd is a men’s fellowship group. In Nakuru, the men of The Herd meet at The Watering Hole. The Watering Hole is where the men of The Herd come to be renewed, refreshed, and restored. A man must drink water to sustain his life. So, it is no surprise why Jesus tells the woman at the well that He can offer her “living water,” and if she drinks that water, she “will never thirst” again. We pray that every man who visits the Watering Hole will discover and drink the living water of Christ.
By God`s grace and leading, Algias and John gathered men to share their life challenges and discover that God loved them and desired to lead them as they lived.
